Lest We Forget
In Flanders Fields
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead.
Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved, and were loved,
and now we lie
In Flanders Fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.
- John McCrae, 1915

As a military girlfriend and (hopefully soon) soon to be wife...I appreciate this! My solider has served 2 tours (Afganistan and Africa) and is starting to prepare to go back to Afganistan. I cannot say that I want him to go...but right now, he (along with all of the other Canadian and NATO soldiers) is fighting to protect what our grandfathers gave us. This mission and all of the missions to come affect each and every one of us as Canadians. Please dont turn your heads to the TV, papers or conversations. Wars are not good...but sometimes they are necessary.
Even if you dont support the mission, the Canadian government or militaries in general... at least support the families of the soldiers. Especially the children.
